MURPHY — Quarterback Christian Files provided some late-game heroics as McKinney North edged Frisco.
After a midfield fourth-down conversion, Files connected with a leaping Brennan Harris on a fade route for a touchdown that pulled McKinney North within one. Coach Mike Fecci opted for the two-point conversion with just 20 seconds to play and succeeded. Frisco got strong play from quarterback Rohan Vasa but fell short.
“We made some plays through the course of the game, but when the game was on the line, we didn’t,” Frisco coach Vance Gibson said. “Our offensive line as a unit played very well. When he was in, Rohan moved the ball well, he handled the tempo well. We’ve got a lot of work to do, and we’ll be busy.”
McKinney North running back Micah Baulicex showed no fear rushing to hit holes, but he ended up on the sideline with an ankle injury. The defense also struggled at times, especially against the pass.
“Here’s the deal, it’s all about perspective. We have two defensive tackles that are really, really good players — didn’t play hardly a snap,” Fecci said. “All in all, I was pleased. We had some guys do some good things, guys got a lot of work to do.”
